James McAvoy is apparently one of the greatest actors ever, or a legit crazy person. It's kind of hard to tell in Filth because it's so unlike any role he's.

Filth Film starring James McAvoy by Jon Baird Studio Mao

James McAvoy plays Detective Sergeant Bruce Robertson, a scheming, manipulative, misanthropic man who spends his time indulging in drugs, alcohol, sexually abusive relationships, and the games - cruel plots and systematic bullying of his coworkers and friends. While working on the murder case of a Japanese student, he starts coming unhinged, slowly losing his grip on reality and suffering.

Synopsis Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy) is a Detective Sergeant in Edinburgh; a scheming, manipulative, misanthropic man who spends his time indulging in drugs, alcohol, sexually abusive relationships, and "the games" his euphemism for the myriad foul plots he hatches directed at workmates.

Filth 2013, directed by Jon S Baird Film review

Thank you, James McAvoy, cast and crew, and Irving Welsh for bringing to light the horrible necessity for so many people to shove mental illness under the rug. Yet, hiding mental illness means that the problem goes unresolved. Filth is a tragic-comedy (black comedy) that isn't about depravity, profanity, or obscenity of a rogue police officer.

At Darren's World of Entertainment Filth Movie Review

Filth is a 2013 psychological drama directed by Jon S. Baird. The plot follows a detective looking to get a promotion to become an inspector, and he uses every immoral way possible to try and get it. The cast is excellent, but James McAvoy simply steals the show. The film is quite the mind-bender, do check it out.

First published in 1998, Filth is a scabrously funny gothic-noir thriller about a sociopathic Edinburgh cop with an insatiable appetite for kinky sex, illicit drugs and back-stabbing office.

Filth (2013) Movie Review YouTube

Filth is an incredibly cynical movie. The introduction presents the way Bruce Robertson perceives the world, and with it, douses the audience with a bucket of cynicism.. Assisted by a great cast and good cinematography, Jon S. Baird crafted a magical realistic story with a greatly complex protagonist that will stick with you. I can heartily.

Filth Movie

Craig McLean Macbeth, Atonement, X-Men… James McAvoy's range is astonishing. Now he brings us Irvine Welsh's abusive, drug-fuelled cop in Filth - a film so shocking it almost didn't get.
