Posts: 5,658. start by taking the shim plate in the rear leaf spring pack and move them to the top of the pack instead the bottom this will drop the read about 1 1/2 - 2 inches. if you want to go lower remove one of the leaf springs. as for the front either swap in 1/2 ton front springs or cut off one coil of the stock front springs. do not use.

#1 · Mar 29, 2009 I'm currently towing a 31' fiver that weighs around 9,000 lbs. I can easily hit 1325-1350 degrees pulling hills here in Ky/Tn. The truck pulls the hills fine. I'm not lacking for power, but I find myself backing out of it while looking at my gauge hit 1325 -1350. My question is: What's my cheapest/easiest mod to drop egt's?

#3 · Dec 17, 2010 Heard its kinda hard to drop these because the size of the diffs. If your 2wd all you have to worry about is the rear diff. But it is doable, you can take off the 2 blocks under the rear springs to lower the rear and if you have an overload spring you can take that off aswell.

#1 · Mar 13, 2014 I recently decided to lower my 2wd and have a few questions. For the front, I've read some people using 1500 coils. I can get a set of 1500 coils for $50 or a set of belltech 3" drop coils for $190. Would the 1500 coil be fine? And if so should I be getting 2wd or 4wd springs?
